Championing empowering women – Suwanda Industries

Championing empowering women

Championing empowering women is a priority for Suwanda Industries, as a proud participant in the Satynmag Women Friendly Workplace Awards 2025.

A cycle is more than just a symbol — it is a quiet promise of movement, resilience, and infinite possibility.

While many incredible women contribute to the success of our company, today we choose to honor a special few — the women who lead our Production lines and Packing units— the silent strength behind every product we create. Too often, their efforts go unnoticed. But not here.

We’ve made it our mission to uplift them — to give them the tools, the training, and the recognition they deserve — so they not only keep going, but rise with pride, purpose, and power.

Cycle was born during one of the darkest chapters in Sri Lanka’s history — when the civil war had left devastation in its wake, tearing families apart and silencing dreams. Amid the ruins, we turned to the strength of women in the North — widowed, displaced, and burdened with unimaginable grief. When the world seemed to have stopped for them, Cycle became a lifeline.

At Cycle, we are deeply committed to carrying forward that legacy—honoring the vision that began it all.

Today, over 200 women stand strong with us across 25 packing units and factory floor workers — each one a story of resilience, courage, and renewal. We support over 250 families who rely on this lifeline, where every paycheck brings dignity, stability, and hope for a better tomorrow.

At the heart of our operations is a remarkable force of women who lead our production lines and packing units. With a dedicated team of over 100 women, they are not just driving production — they are shaping the future of our brand through their skill and commitment. These women are all over the age of 40 — single mothers who have carried the weight of their world alone. Each day, they rise with quiet strength, determined to provide a better life for their children.

They’ve turned their pain into purpose, stepping beyond the walls of their own homes to uplift others just like them. These women have become pillars — not only holding up their families but extending their hands to bring more women into the fold. For the remarkable women in our factory and packing units, age is not a limitation — it is their power. Their years carry wisdom and a quiet grace that inspires us all. That’s why we’ve created a flexible work environment that adapts to their lives — not the other way around. They can work from the comfort of their homes. They are free from rigid targets and time clocks. And in our spaces, families are not only welcomed — they are celebrated. Children laughing, loved ones visiting — it all adds to the joy we intentionally cultivate. We nurture their growth through hands-on training, and every year, we pause to truly celebrate them — with heartfelt gifts, shared meals, and moments of recognition that remind them:

From the Factory to the Cricket Field. Cycle’s commitment to women does not stop at the factory floor. At a time when others stayed silent, we stood tall. It is our privilege to be a part of the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team on their incredible progress and inspiring achievements.

When they struggled to find sponsors, Cycle Pure Incense stepped forward — not just as a sponsor, but as a true believer in their potential. We are deeply proud to be part of a company that doesn’t wait for applause to do the right thing, but rises to support our nation’s heroes when they need it most.

Championing Empowering Women at Suwanda

We recently introduced a heartfelt initiative — inviting the incredible women of Cycle to become our brand ambassadors. Not just to represent our products, but to embody the spirit, strength, and story behind every incense stick we create. Mothers, fathers, and children from our team — hand in hand — sharing incense samples at village temples and with neighboring families. Because who better to carry our message into the world than the very women who give it life? It’s a beautiful reminder that their love for what they do — and for our brand — goes far beyond the workplace.

As for the future, we hold a deep-rooted belief: every individual deserves the opportunity for transformation, dignity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Through phase 3 of our Women’s Packing Unit initiative, we are honored to extend meaningful employment to women prisoners. Not as a gesture of charity, but as a powerful cause for redemption and reintegration. This is more than job creation; it is the restoration of hope, the rebuilding of lives, and the celebration of human potential.

We chose to focus on these remarkable women because their journey is real. It’s raw. And it deserves to be heard. We believe it is not only our responsibility — but our privilege — to lift one another up, whether she is in the corporate office or works tirelessly on a factory floor and as an organization we hope have done justice to the women of Cycle.

Every stick of incense from our beloved brands — Prampara, Lia, Pushkarni, Surprise, and so many more, carries their touch, their care, their pride. These are the hands that craft what finds its way into homes across the nation.

To honor them is not just our responsibility — it is our privilege.
