With the current economic downturn, many women in Sri Lanka are eager to travel overseas for jobs – but what they need to know is that such na effort can be dangerous until and unless they know what they are going to be employed for.
Check the following tips before making the decision to go for overseas employment – some of them can be deadly for women in Sri Lanka.
Check the credentials of the company /organisation providing employment –
Do your homework before you commit yourself to an overseas job. Who is providing the employment at that end? Who is co-ordinating the effort? Do they have a safe footprint in Sri Lanka or overseas? Do your own research before you make the decision. It is always a good and a safe step to do this before you enter the next phase of committing yourself to the job.
Is the job verified and genuine?
Check with the agency that is providing the job. What does the job entail? This must be done once you verify the agency or the organisation providing the employment.
Many women in Sri Lanka get caught in scams that are actually not what is presented to them as employment. Again, do your own research and check every job for which you intend to apply for.

Do your own research on the financial involvement and the cost. It is good to be financial literate and to know what kind of a financial commitment is needed from you.
